Airport Blog – June 6, 2007
What a great day of travel for the Greenfield Wing of the 2007 Sister City program! The kids were awesome and we had a non-eventful flight from Indianapolis to Detroit. It’s obviously been a long time since I’ve flown into Detroit because I was blown away by the airport. It was clean, huge, and full of shops. We could have even bought a suit from Brooks Brothers. Instead we all ate our last American meal at McDonald’s and enjoyed the view of our plane from the fountain in the center of the concourse. I found out during our long walk from Gate 6 to Gate 40 that Erik’s carry-on bag didn’t have a shoulder strap. Thank goodness the airport has been renovated and it has a ton of shops. I only had to go to Gate 66 to find one, but at least it was something I could buy. (Nick, remind me sometime when I need it that he owes me one, but at least he won’t be completely sore from trying to carry his duffle bag in his hands!)
Right now, we’re watching “Music and Lyrics” on our flight to Tokyo. I wish I could get some sleep, especially since I didn’t get to bed until 1:30 this morning, but there’s just something about trying to sleep on a plane. Evan hasn’t had any problems with this – I wish I knew his secret!
